Fun-demic

The School Year 2020-2021 is coming to a close. At this time, the year-end preparations are nearing at its end. This means that members of the Jubilee Christian community are busy ensuring that this school year will end on a good note.

With all the items on our “to-do list,” it is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the days. Without the right heart and mindset, it is easy to succumb to pressure and resent the loss of free time. But with one’s heart in the right place, it is easy to remind oneself that everything we have been tasked to work on is an opportunity to put the God-given talents and skills into good use.

When I opened my Bible application, it showed me that the verse for the day is Psalms 107:1.

Reading this verse, I was reminded of a Grade 6 student who described his last year in the Elementary Department as a Fun-demic year.

Indeed, we have been through a lot of ups and downs this school year. But by the grace of God, we have also thrived in some areas of our lives.

Fun memories were still added to our memory banks despite not being physically together.

I would always be grateful for the fun and laughter shared over video conferences via Google Meet or Zooms.

As an Araling Panlipunan Coordinator, my best memories were in February and April. Months before the actual events, we are very unsure how to do online dance sync up (February) and a virtual field trip (April). But as the D-Days draw near, creativity, teamwork, and patience made these events fun and exciting for both the students and the teachers.

Both events are far from being perfect. But the lessons learned and the skills acquired because of these experiences are worth going through the trouble.

Indeed, this is one fun-demic school year. Thank God for giving us a chance to still enjoy our days together despite the physical distance from each other.  (DDI, 2021)
