Teachnology

Teachnology in the Jubilee Christian Academy had come a long way. In the Elementary Department, it was introduced first to the grade 3 students in February 2015. The iPad Fun Day offered them a glimpse of what it would be like to have an iPad as a learning device.

In August 2015, these students became the first in the department to use iPad in their classrooms. A blended learning approach for the holistic development of the students.

By S.Y. 2017-2018, the grades 4 to 6 students are using iPad in the classrooms. Many classroom activities involved the use of the iPad. Examples of these are reading e-books, watching instructional videos, and creating original works.

Every year the students grow more comfortable with the use of this learning tool. Their skills in using the device improved. There were more creative outputs.

In September 2018, the JCA had its first Parent Observation Day. Parents visited their children’s classrooms. They then have a first-hand experience of the Teachnology program. The feedback of the parents paved a way to make this program better than the previous year.

Fast forward to March 2020, the Enhance Community Quarantine was declared to prevent the spread of the COVID-19. The experience from the previous years and the JCA community’s exposure to the Teachnology program came in handy.

The Self Study Program allows the JCA community to maximize the skills and lessons learned over the past years. Admittedly, there is a lot of room for improvement in the Self Study Program. Adjustments are made each week, on occasion, the acquisition of new skills became necessary to make things better.

This time is offering a valuable learning opportunity for the entire community. We hope that we will all maximize this to learn as much as we can. We can then use the lessons to make our current programs better. And maybe, the experiences we have at this time can also give birth to programs that will enhance the teaching and learning experience in JCA.
