CRITICAL LEADERSHIP DURING CRUCIAL TIMES

On October 28, 2014, Jubilee Christian Academy sent six student leaders to attend “Critical Leadership During Crucial Times,” a leadership conference at the SMX Convention Center, SM Aura in Taguig.  The delegates consisted of John Michele Lee and Aaron Benrick Tanlimco of 9-Sun Yat Sen, Angelo Fenix and Janet Aguinaldo of 10-Peace, Jalisha Yulangco of 10-Purity and  Sam Sy of 10-Solomon together with the Junior High School Student Activities Coordinator, Mrs. Nancy Ramos.

Mr. Joseph Grenny shared about how our conversations are critical in shaping and motivating future leaders.

The conference featured noted leaders such as Senator Bam Aquino, motivational speaker Joseph Grenny, and Gilas Coach Chot Reyes.  Aquino’s talk, entitled “Unselfie: How to Move Your People From “Me” to “We”, taught leaders how to think about the collective good before thinking about themselves.  Joseph Grenny, international best-selling author, spoke on the topic “Crucial Leadership during Critical Times”, a full two hours and thirty minutes devoted to teaching leaders the fundamentals on how to make an impact through positive influence and crucial conversations. Lastly, Coach Chot’s talk, “The GILAS Spirit: Giving Your Best Shot to Succeed, Not Just Win”, was a great way to end the seminar, revealing the passion involved and the critical aspects needed in leadership.  The speakers kept everyone on the edge of their seats revealing new perspectives and providing an interactive experience which made the learning experience enjoyable and memorable.

Jalisha Yulangco, JHS Student Council President, quipped when asked what leadership principle she gleaned through the conference: “I learned that leadership is being a positive influence to your peers as you motivate and inspire them to become better versions of themselves.”
