On September 4, 7, and 8, 2020 the Junior High School (JHS) Students attended sessions on Digital Literacy and Digital Citizenship hosted by Ms. Mara Denisse M. In the three-day session on Digital Literacy and Digital Citizenship, Ms. Diwa and Ms. Manabat emphasized the skills students need to learn and be familiar within an environment where information is accessed digitally such as through the internet, social media, and smartphones. The sessions also encouraged and trained the students to be aware of the digital identity they create and the digital footprints they leave that may contribute not only to their image online but to their lives beyond the screen.

Ms. Diwa and Ms. Manabat also discussed the importance of digital well-being, safety, and security, and netiquette. They highlighted that students must share information with care and respect for other users and to be on the lookout for false information. The sessions culminated with workshops that allowed students to work collaboratively as they practice their digital literacy skills and that challenged them to be better and responsible digital citizens.

The topics discussed in the Digital Literacy and Citizenship Sessions function as important manuals to help students navigate as they discover and experience this emerging online learning environment.
