Grade 10 Students Learn from the Makan Experience of Dr. Fong by Justine Pearl S. Uy, 10-Solomon

 

Dr. John Fong, CEO and Head of Campus of S.P. Jain School of Global Management Singapore, gave a talk to the Grade 10 students of Jubilee Christian Academy (JCA) last October 18, 2019 at the JE Chapel.

 

 

 

This is Dr. Fong’s first time in JCA after he and the S.P. Jain community gave a warm welcome to JCA’s delegation, headed by Ms. Frances Gaza, Junior High School Principal, last June 2018 for the International Study and Work Immersion where S.P. Jain was among the institutions visited.

 

 

 

 

 

During his talk, Dr. Fong, a very candid and vibrant speaker, shared to the students his experiences at S.P. Jain, where he was sent to Singapore, Dubai, and Sydney, to get a firsthand experience of S.P. Jain’s tri-country learning program. His inspiring talk centered on one key word: Makan, a commonly used expression in Singapore which means ‘to eat’.

 

 

In his address to the Grade 10, M.A.K.A.N. stood for an acronym which he constantly remembers as he journeys in the pursuit of success and gaining meaningful experience in life.  M.A.K.A.N stands for Motivation, Action, Knowledge, Achievements, and No Boundaries. These five things, according to Dr. Fong, have fuelled him to live his life according to God’s purpose.

 

 

 

 

 

After the talk, Dr. Fong and Mr. Vincent Patrick S. Dela Cruz, Country Manager for Marketing and Admissions of S. P. Jain in the Philippines, entertained questions from students who asked interesting questions from the speaker. Prior his talk with the Grade 10, Dr. Fong had a brief meeting with Ms. Gaza, Junior High School Principal; Mrs. Nancy Ramos, Senior High School Principal; Ms. Mary Jane Akmad, CFD Director; and Mr. Marlon Bugayong, JHS-SHS SA Coordinator, to discuss possible partnership in the future.

The Grade 10 were indeed blessed to be able to learn from Dr. Fong!
