INTERNATIONAL MATH COMPETITIONS

Madeline Tee of 9-Sun Yat Sen won a silver medal and Jaymi Mae L. Ching, also from 9-Sun Yat Sen, won a bronze medal in the 10th Singapore-International Mathematics Competition held last August 1-4, 2014. Merit awards were also given to Engelberg Jeremy See and Phil Eldrige Sim, both from 10B-Martin Luther.

The said students were part of the Philippine delegation, which attained 155 medals (22 gold, 44 silver, and 89 bronze), placing 2nd next to China which garnered 193 medals in total. Member countries of the league include Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Iran, Myanmar, and India.

The competition,  which was a one and a half hour test, consisted of mind-boggling math problems on number theory, algebra, geometry, combinatorics math problem. The test was taken in the Indian Global International School, Singapore.

Danielle Joy See of 10B-Martin Luther also won the silver medal in the World Mathematics Invitational Competition Finals held last August 10, 2014 at the National Taiwan University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
