It’s BTS Week! Back-to-School Week, That Is!

The Junior High School (JHS) Department opened its doors virtually to students in what it tagged as its BTS Week! No, it’s not a popular band, but it is the “JHS Back-to-School (BTS) Week” from September 1 to 8, 2020. Students headed their way to their first taste of the ‘now normal’— online classes for the school year 2020-2021—through a weeklong orientation that allowed students and personnel to be re-acquainted to learning in these times.

The Grades 7 and 10 were the first two levels to be welcomed by the Department on September 1 followed by the Grades 9 and 10 on September 2.

The orientation week began with a General Assembly of each grade level with the Junior High School Principal, Miss Frances Rea R. Gaza, in the Meet the Principal session. Miss Gaza addressed all the students, making sure that all Jubileans feel welcome as they returned to school. She shared the triumphs of the past school year, the thanksgiving and praises of the JCA community, and a glimpse of what to look forward to as she encouraged all students and personnel that by God’s grace, the school year 2020-2021 will be one where every student and personnel will “Triumph Over the Challenges of the New Normal” as the school theme emphasizes.

She, together with the JHS Coordinators and Teachers, organized different sessions that familiarised students with school procedures, tools for effective online learning, and new and exciting programs underway such as Pre-AP for Grades 9 and 10.

Meanwhile, the Class Advisers and Teachers spent the time to get to know their students and walked them through guidelines on online learning such as netiquette and communication protocols, as well as sessions on Digital Literacy and Digital Citizenship. The Advisers also took the time to engage the students and build the foundation for a meaningful and strong familial relationship to help students in their academic success and well-being this school year.

Indeed, the year will be one filled with much learning and adjustments as things unfold each day, but one thing is certain: The Lord says in Isaiah 41:13: “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.’”

The JHS Personnel, students, and parents are off to working hand-in-hand to make the most out of this extraordinary school year because surely, the Lord will take the lead.

It is the desire of the Department that at the end of school year, everyone will be able to exclaim, ’It’s Great to be in JHS!”
