JCA Launches Its Self-Study Program in Light of Community Quarantine

Because of the government-imposed Enhanced Community Quarantine in the country, Jubilee Christian Academy introduced its own Self-Study Program last March 16, 2020 to provide an avenue for learning to continue.

One week after the start of the fourth quarter, news of growing number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Philippines alarmed the entire nation. This prompted the government to impose ECQ in the entire Luzon as a precautionary measure.

To address the pressing need for everyone to stay at home and to ensure that the students are still continuously learning, Jubilee Christian Academy maximized the use of technology by implementing a Self-Study Program which allows the students to learn their lessons and work on specific tasks in different subject areas at home. It is an alternative delivery mode of learning prescribed by the Department of Education that allows the students to complete the requirements for the school year.

Through iTunes U and other online facilities, the students receive weekly self-study materials which include self-study program lesson guide, supplementary materials, and online resources that help students continue to learn. By the end of each lesson, they are tasked to submit an output that will reflect and assess their understanding.

Even during this immensely challenging and unprecedented season of our lives, we are comforted by God’s promises as said in Isaiah 41: 10 (NIV), “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Let us continue to encourage and pray for one another for good health, protection, and unity during these trying times.
