JHS Students Join Alimbukad

The JHS Department offered a modular program to the Grades 8 to 10 students via Alimbukad, a three-day webinar series organized by the Ateneo Senior High School Matanglawin in cooperation with the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability (AIS) and the Ateneo Biological Organization, that aims to tackle different aspects of environmental sustainability in the current pandemic setting.

On Wednesday to Friday, February 17 to 19, 2021; 4:00 – 5:30 PM, there were various sessions attended by students that touched on topics related to Marine Life, Nature Conservation, Sustainable Fashion, Sustainable Agriculture, Climate Change, and Philippine Wildlife.

Students were engaged in the discussions led by these various speakers:

  • Mr. Mark De La Paz , Research Associate at the Center for Research and Engagement of the University of St. La Salle
  • Ms. Billie Dumaliang, Advocacy officer and Managing Trustee of Masungi Georeserve Foundation
  • Ms. Mia Azurin, Director and Co Founder of FASH; Co Founder of Malaya 
  • Mr. Dino Calderon, Unit Head of the Environmental Education Program of WWF
  • Mr. Emmanuel D. Delocado, Faculty of the Department of Biology of Ateneo de Manila University.
  • Mr. Veejay Calutan, Communications and Engagement Manager of the Philippines Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture (PPSA)

Students also showcased their curiosity as they asked relevant questions and participated during the trivia games where they won prizes.

The students had a meaningful and worthwhile time of learning and gaining further awareness on how they can take proactive steps to promote the conservation of our planet.
