NOUVELLES ON A ROLL

Nouvelles, JCA JHS student publication, held its staffers’ training last June 28, 2014. The workshop aims to empower young writers with campus journalism skills through training in feature writing and print design. The half-day affair showcased two former Nouvelles staffers, Rebecca I. Lee, Nouvelles editor-in-chief in 2011 and currently a junior at the University of the Philippines Diliman taking up Broadcast Communication, and Joshua T. Cheng, EIC in 2012 and a sophomore at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Lee’s talk focused on where she gets her inspiration in writing as well as tips on how one can always improve in his craft. She also shared about her experiences as the Senior Columnist of the community blog, When in Manila, a top online magazine in the Philippines.

After the sessions of Lee and Cheng, Mrs. Nancy R. Ramos, Nouvelles Adviser, conducted a writing workshop as an application of the insights gained during the talks.

The editorial staff is set to undergo more training this school year to further their learning in publication. Nouvelles editorial staff meet every Tuesday, from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
