PARENTS’ ORIENTATION S.Y. ’14-’15

Last June 6, 2014, the Junior High School held its first Parents’ Orientation for SY 2014-2015 from 8:30 – 10:30 am at the JE Chapel in the E. Rodriguez Campus. The program started with a welcome remarks from the Principal, Mrs. Evelyn M. Malabunga-Bumatay followed by a short devotion and exhortation on ‘Time, Talent, Treasure’ by Ms. Rowena Lumahan, Christian Education (CE) Coordinator. Mrs. Miracle Tapado, Science Coordinator, and Mr. Jason Lloyd Ng, Social Studies Coordinator, shared about JHS’ successes last schoolyear which included the PAASCU granting of Level 1 Accreditation to the JHS; the good performance of the Grade 10 students (SY 2012-2013) in the NAT, ranking 2nd among all private schools in Quezon City; the success of the Singapore School Visit; the winnings of JHS in both academic and varsity competitions, to name a few. Then, all subject area teachers were introduced by their respective coordinators.

Mrs. Annie Chua, JCA Parents’Auxiliary (JCAPA) President, gave a testimony on how she has been fulfilling her role as the School’s partner in raising her children. She emphasized the three Is namely: Intention, Involvement, and Investment. She further encouraged parents to support and join endeavours of JCAPA by being part of the different committees that carry out programs. Ms. Ma. Zetha Gavino, Level Coordinator, talked about the School’s core values in relation to the JHS.

The orientation was also graced by a JCA alumnus, Justin Edric Yturzaeta of Batch 2013 and currently a sophomore at the Ateneo de Manila University. He gave parents and guests a glimpse of what his Jubilee journey was all about and how these experiences helped him cope in his freshman year. He emphasized the true essence of the Jubilee education he obtained saying that “Spiritual formation is what has set Jubilee apart from all the rest.” The session with the parents also paved the way to discuss the direction of the School in areas such as e-learning and senior high school offering. The parents were also enlightened on how the School is assisting students with discipline and academic concerns. Lastly, Mrs. Nancy Ramos, Student Activities Coordinator, introduced the Volunteerism Program for Parents. The program seeks to promote more parent involvement in School activities by inviting them to participate as resource speakers, organisers, volunteers for JHS programs, and the like.
