JCA Holds Its First Virtual Parents Conference

School Year 2020-2021 is unlike any other school year. It will be a school year of “firsts”.

The Preschool (PS) Department held its first ever V-Conference, a Virtual Parents Conference, with the theme, “Triumphs Over the Challenges of the New Normal” which is inspired by School Year 2020-2021 theme verse, Isaiah 43:13 on August 12, 2020, 8:00 AM- 9:00 AM.

Mrs. Carol B. Seming, Preschool Principal engaged the parents by asking them to answer a question through ‘Mentimeter’, an interactive real-time voting app. She also shared the challenges and successes of the department in the school year 2019-2020.

Since everybody is dealing with a new normal in education, “a new kind of society, a new relationship to the earth, a new experience of being human” like what Charles Eisenstein explained, Mrs. Seming presented the Guidelines on Google Classroom, uniform to be worn during the virtual classes, and the learning space to make teaching and learning virtually worth-while for teachers, students and parents.

To also prepare and make the students comfortable in the new mode of learning, a “Preschool Department Wonderland”, a student orientation which will familiarize and guide students to acclimatize in the new normal of learning, will be held online as well .

A recorded online class instruction was also made available for both students and parents and a session with Dr. Lillian Ng Gui, a Certified Specialist in Counseling Psychology, on ‘Parenting in the New Normal’ to start a positive mindset and prepare them for online learning.

In the last part of the Preschool Parent Conference, Mrs. Seming encouraged the parents to be JCA’s home homepartner to ensure that students will have fun and and have valuable learning experiences at the comforts of their homes because, truly, the community involvement in school plays an important role in the academic, and co-curricular performance and character building of the students.
