The FFCCCI, in cooperation with the Association of Chinese-Filipino Schools in the Philippines, established in 2014 the Chinese Teacher’s Scholarship Program to teach Mandarin in the Philippines with the Program “1+2+1”. To date, it has two batches of graduates. The fifty-six graduates teach in different Chinese schools. Presently, there are thirty-six scholars in their sophomore year and thirty-eight scholars in their freshmen college. The scholars will graduate in 2022 and 2023.

The objective of the Chinese Teacher’s Scholarship Program is to train local Filipino to teach Mandarin. The Program will run for four years. First year training is at Chiang Kai Shek College of Philippine Cultural College; then, a two-year study at Fujian Normal University and Huaqiao University in China. Upon returning to the Philippines, the local Filipinos will complete the remaining year in the Philippines. After graduation, they will become professional Chinese teachers and will serve their alma mater by teaching Chinese language for a minimum of three years. The FFCCCI will sponsor the school fee and will give Php 50,000.00 as living allowance to the scholars.

For 2020, the FFCCCI plans to sponsor the 5th batch of scholars. It hopes that the Chinese-Filipino schools could recommend applicants for this Program to address the lack of local Chinese teachers. Registration is on going.

Interested students on the above mentioned Program can approach Mrs. Jocelyn Co, the Elementary Chinese Coordinator, at jkco@jca.edu.ph for assistance.
