Faculty Achievement Unlocked

Jubilee Christian Academy’s JHS and SHS Biology teacher, Mr. Marvin John Angeles, completed his Master’s Degree in Biology Education (M.A.Ed. Biology Ed.) at the University of the Philippines – Diliman.

With the increasing demands of the K-to-12 curriculum, Mr. Angeles decided to advance his knowledge and skills by taking his Master’s Degree in 2014, two years after he completed his undergraduate program in University of the Philippines Los Baños.

He spent three years to finish academic requirements and two years in writing his thesis entitled, “Time-lapse Videos: Effects on Students’ Biology Concept Understanding and Visual Literacy Skills”

According to Mr. Angeles, his thesis was inspired by one of the activities in his Grade 8 Biology Laboratory class in S.Y. 2018-2019, where he utilized blended learning to enrich the students’ understanding of Biology concepts.

“I decided to focus on blended learning, specifically the use of the emerging mobile device camera feature since this is very accessible to our students. As far as the literature is concerned, no study has been conducted and / or published in our country and in the biology education field that is similar to the topic that I explored,” he mentioned.

The JCA Biology teacher also marveled at the Lord’s guidance throughout his post-graduate journey.

“Surpassing all these hurdles through the Lord’s provision and faithfulness. I graduated in August 2019 but will be joining the graduation ceremony in June 2020 since the university / college conducts one graduation program once every academic year.”
